Society's Stigma on Mental Health: A Barrier to Seeking Help?

it delayed me from seeking help for years because my mom would tell me that it was my physical circumstances that was causing me anxiety and depression. she would commonly say “our family doesn’t have those problems”.

If I seek help for a disorder I suspect I may have I may be barred away from trans health care... Plus my mom doesn't understand gender dysphoria and is Christian .. any my state has no place I can get trans care

Not really I was too young to make my own decisions and my parents put me in Consuleing

At the point o seemed them I didn’t care what society thought. I needed help. And now I post about my journey on my Instagram and Facebook. I’m open and honest , the good bad and ugly . I feel like maybe someone might read it and they might not feel so alone, and if nothing else the venting kinda helps.

Not from seeking professional help but does stop me bring it up front of certain people. Not everyone understands or knows how to support properly. Honestly, if the roles were reverse I too probably wouldn't understand fully either. I suppose this is why Alike is so helpful.
