does anyone else fantasize about going back in time and doing something differently? like “if i had just done this, then this wouldn’t have happened.” i have this fantasy all the time and wondered if it’s a common ptsd thing.

All the effin time. I read and then did audible on 2 books that changed most of my mind on why I do that. Not directly but indirectly. 1. The body keeps the score and 2. What happened to you?

Ah, well mainly just extensive bullying before I was even old enough to understand that they were just stupid kids. Along with no friends except for this one toxic friend I had back then. Those things messed me up a lot since I'm unreasonably sensitive to criticism.

Yeah, same. I know that if I had walked away sooner or was strong enough not to care, then I wouldn't have developed an eating disorder due to a bunch of assholes in school.

I try not to do this, but I do. When I'm going through really bad episodes I have even had horrible thoughts such as, if I was still being traumatized I would feel as bad because I would be too focused on survival mode than anything else 😭

I used to a lot before completing EMDR therapy. It may be how you cope with flashbacks. Basically trying to change the narrative.

All of the time. It’s taken years of therapy to start getting better

yes, a lot actually. i believe it is maybe a ptsd thing but it can always be caused by something else 🤷‍♀️

I do that daily. Sometimes it’s big things in my life like break ups or small things like meaningless conversations. I have C-PTSD but I don’t know if it’s caused by that or something else.
