Does anyone else feel like they no longer know who they are? I feel like over the past 10+ years I've lost my identity. I got married shortly after highschool and have had 4 children since then. It seems like my main identity now is "Mom" and I'm just not happy with that. Any suggestions as to how I can find me again? I want to enjoy my existence and currently I'm not enjoying much of anything. I have severe social anxiety so becoming part of a community is REALLY hard.... I just want to belong somewhere šŸ˜”

I feel the same way. But I'm not sure I've ever truly known who I am. It seems to change with every stage of life. I also got married shortly after highschool and have had 3 kids. Mostly, I'm just "mom" like you said. Every now and then, I find identity in my jobs... Accountant, office manager, business owner. I can play the part really well, but it never feels authentically "me". I don't have any advice to fix it, but like TheBigSpook said, try writing a list of things you like and/or things you're good at. I've done this as well and it is therapeutic. As I think of new things, I add them. List is currently around 3 pages long. Worth trying!

I know how you feel. Iā€™ve really lost myself over the last year or so and Iā€™ve been grasping at straws trying to find a sense of identity. My therapist had me do some homework where I make a list of all of my favorite things, and self esteem exercises (something you like about yourself, what it does for you, and how you can honor or celebrate it) so I could see all of the things that make me who I am. Itā€™s actually helping. Maybe you could give that a try, and then find local events or places to visit related to your interests so you can find people you already have something in common with! :)
