if anyone w/ panic disorder at some point had severe agoraphobia/fear of traveling/air travel/being away from home but overcame it HOW did you do it omg šŸ˜šŸ™I need to tour colleges across the country and also maybe move to one of them in the next 7 months and I am sooo desperate. I have tried biofeedback, SSRIs, craniosacral, dbt, cbt, exposure therapy (not for air travel yet), vistaril, etc and nothing has rlly given me the progress I need. recently started neurofeedback and feeling hopeful!! (if you also happen to have physical illnesses espec stomach issues and are in the same boat extra helpful cause a big part of it is that I'm afraid of feeling sick anywhere away from my house)

@Motley yeah that is something I've been thinking of doing! I took klonopin at a rlly low dose one time and I was like ooh lala! But yea I need to try actual anti anxiety medication cause SSRIs suck

I feel very similar with panic disorder, agoraphobia, and stomach issues and the fear of having them away from home and I guess I would suggest that you maybe ask your doctor if they're willing to let you on a benzodiazepine. When I take klonopin it doesn't matter if I'm actually mentally better I just feel better for the duration of its effects, which in turn helps me carry out exposure therapy, cbt, and other things that actually aim to better my health long term. Sometimes just not having any symptoms for a few days when I'm taking it boosts my mental health and confidence for a long while after.

@talulla I highly recommend the ODT form of the Klonopin (I take 0.5mg PRN) as it kicks in really fast and doesnā€™t taste horrible like chewing up a regular tablet does. I used to chew regular tablets to they kicked in faster and then my new psychiatrist told me about the ODT form and let me say, Iā€™M IN LOVE WITH THAT FORM.

@Motley fully agree with this! I use orally disintegrating tablets of Klonopin on an as needed basis and it makes a world of difference. Especially when traveling or when Iā€™m exposed to super hard environments.
