Anyone else about to graduate and feeling super stressed and overwhelmed and nervous??? I'm so worried about passing this semester and starting college courses. I have medication for my stress and anxiety but when I take it, it knocks me out and I pass out in class. I need help with coping because my medication isn't helping.

I’m in my second year of college. I have ADHD, PTSD, depression, and anxiety. If you are feeling extremely overwhelmed and burnt out, my best advice is to take a gap year/semester. My first semester of college was rough. I moved across the country and never gave myself a real break after working myself to the bone all throughout high school. I took a mental health leave after my first semester, and it was amazing. If you need time to just be a person and figure things out without the constant stress of academics, please give yourself that time. You deserve it.

I'm in college right now and remember feeling like that my senior year, I was so excited but so nervous for college. As far as passing this semester goes, write down things that will help you study, and do your best to stay organized. I know that's hard with ADHD but use whatever way works for you. A friend of mine writes down tasks on sticky notes and puts them on his wall, then takes them down when he's done. And for college, it's okay to be nervous! Everyone else is, and older students are always kind and helpful if you have any questions. Read the syllabus, talk to the disability services center and make a support/accomodations plan for ADHD (I have one and I don't need it much but when I do it's great) always talk to your teachers if you're starting to struggle, usually they're very kind and understanding. People will tell you to join clubs to make friends, choose one that's not a huge time commitment, you want to take it easy while you're adjusting. It's new, it's scary, and you've totally got this.

@Jazzyyyy another thing! I took a lot of advanced classes and a big class load in highschool, if you do that, DO NOT do that in college. It's not necessarily harder, but you're managing things on your own, I overloaded on classes and neglected my health. I also keep a spreadsheet of my required classes organized by semester with the number of credits, so I can plan when to take things so that class enrollment is easier and I can manage exactly how much I'm taking each semester
