Keep at it! Apply for any job you find interesting, whether or not you're qualified. The worst they can do is say no. There are also programs out there that don't require payment until after you've gotten a job. There are ways to further your education to make you qualified for more positions without adding additional financial stress. And while jobs in retail and food suck, they can help you push along until you find something better. Just be careful not to get trapped and research the specific company beforehand, ESPECIALLY talking to people already employed there. I do not suggest this if you are in a position where you can afford not to have a job (living with understanding parents, living with a partner who makes enough for you to both live on, etc.). Just put in as many applications as you can. If that sounds overwhelming, set a number. Say "I will apply for at least 2 jobs every day" and do it. Follow up. If you apply and don't hear anything for a couple days, send an email asking about the position. It will tell employers that you really are interested in the job. Now is also a good time to look for seasonal work; a little extra financial stability, a smaller gap on your resume, and a set end date if you hate the job. And keep applying while you're doing that. You may find permanent employment before the seasonal job is finished. Good luck!
