@Nummy you can always try starting off with other avenues besides Dr’s, but, the most important part of it is an actual diagnosis. You can’t diagnose yourself, but without a diagnosis, it’s very difficult to know what treatment path to go down. So Dr doesn’t necessarily mean medication. There are plenty of other things to try before resorting to medication. But to know what those things are, you need a diagnosis first.

Thanks for the advice. I was hoping it would be a doctor free thing

You definitely don’t have to have any identifiable reason to be depressed. To be depressed, you have to display a certain number of the symptoms for a certain continuous amount of time, and the severity would be such that it has an impact on your ability to function in your every day life. All too often depression is exacerbated by the fact that the person doesn’t understand why they feel the way they do. Again, they can’t identify any particular thing in their life that might be causing it. And that’s very common. If you feel this way, it’s important to get out in front of it by speaking with your Dr. Fortunately it’s a very treatable condition. My heart goes out to Naomi Judd and her family as she was unable to beat it. Not everyone does. But I believe with the right treatment, most people do.
