I have been doing this since elementary. What helps me is wearing acrylics. I dont bite when they are on plus I love hearing the sound of them when I type šŸ˜‚ but if that is not for you, try keeping your hands busy or keeping your arms down. I mean hands on your head, sit on them, get a fidget toy, pencil anything.

I found that getting acrylics helped my nails at least because it hurt my teeth to bite them but then I would start picking at the acrylic which became a way worse obsession for me. My pretty acrylic nails always looked horrible within a week. The stuff that tastes bad so you donā€™t bite your nails doesnā€™t work, it just makes your lips and teeth taste disgusting too without making you stop biting lol. I usually will chew a piece of gum to keep my mouth busy during times when Iā€™d be wanting to bite my nails

Ive found that having acrylics help. There's no way you can bite acrylic nails without breaking your teef. Hope this helps!

@merb that's not totally true... I have totally bitten off acrylics... lol. I was MAAADDDD at myself. I paid too much to just rip them off a week later.

I will tell you about my wife. Hope this idea can help you too. So my wife has anxiety about a year and a half ago I bout her a chewy. You know the chewies autistic people bit if they have pica? Well my wife bit her nails so much to the point they would bleed. So I got her a chewy to bit on instead and it worked for her.

I bit my nail for years. If you can go get acrylics. They are to hard and pretty to bite. Do that about 3 times and try your hardest not to pick or bite them off. They can work with short nails and I didn't thinknit was possible but it is. It worked for me. Hope it works for youšŸ¤—

@tiarasmnt I did the same thing! I got dip nails a couple times in a row and have been able to keep my nails long without biting them since

The only thing Iā€™ve found ~slightly~ helpful is finding a really good fidget toy that keeps my hands busy. If Iā€™m messing with my tangle toy I canā€™t bite my nails. But Iā€™ll often just end up putting it down to bite my nailsšŸ˜

I did this for years, I also twirl my hair. The only thing that has helped me is grooming and painting my nails, the better they look the more incentive I have to not ruin them
