i am on 1mg Clonazepam to take before i leave the house and have to deal with it being too peopley outside lol, 2mg prazosin at night, 175mg/2x day lamictal, and 15mg mirtazapine. also in talk therapy.
depression, severe anxiety, ptsd, bi-polar.
what meds have helped you the most? was talk therapy helpful? any more intense forms of therapy?
I find that meds have to be tailored to the individual. It's a bit of a crap shoot to find what works. Talk therapy is very helpful for most people. Again, find what works for you.
talk therapy seems to be at a standstill and i ask about meds because maybe my doctor never considered it and it turns out to be something i benefit from. just i don't like how many meds are just getting me by. constantly changing them. it has been over 10 yrs and it's like every couple yrs we have to tailor meds.
med changes every few years are normal. Our bodies adapt to the meds and need an update. My conditions aren't the same, but I find that my aripiprazole helps a lot. I can understand taking a lot of meds just to get by. In addition to my aripiprazole, I take restoril, tizanidine, duloxetine, Lamictal, verapamil, and rizatriptan. Obviously they are not all for Mental Health. As far as talk therapy goes, sometimes you have to direct your therapist to your specific issues of the time instead of allowing them their own process. Don't be afraid to shake things up. Also, if you can find an integrated mental health team you might be better off. My team helps me with everything from meds and therapy to trips to the library and grocery store. That and my routine help keep me fairly stable.
Meds are very person specific. I have a different combo of diagnoses than you so my meds probably wouldnât work. I wish you the best in finding what works though đ youâll get there eventually đ¤Š
I found that trauma therapy was more helpful for me than just talk therapy. Obviously not right for everyone but it helped me understand my anger and what tiggers me. So I don't through myself into an episode.
update to this post: I'm now on 25mg Hydroxyzine so i can actually sleep and not be up for 12 to 18 hours with not even a nap. and when i do sleep- all there is is trauma and flashbacks and i happen to be an extremely vivid dreamer. so, when i wake up- I'm not sure if i am still dreaming or not. i can smell and taste and give such detail sometimes it's scary.
night terrors suck. Trauma therapy can help. It may also help to try to learn directed dreaming. With practice, it may get easier to get out of the trauma dreams without waking in terror.
Hiya. I take a bunch of psych meds as well. I am started therapy again with someone new oh Friday this week. I canât even think of all the medications right now. But I know I take 3mg of Prazosin, 50mg hydroxyzine, 450mg of Trazodone, Quetiapine ER 500mg, Diazapam 2mg up to 3 times a day, Divalproex ER 500mg. Then meds to take as needed for migraines, and omperazale, pramipexole (for restless legs).
I am not great right now. Kinda in a manic mixed episodes
hope you find the new person to be a better for you. i guess i shouldn't be surprised that I'm not on as many meds as i thought. i didn't know you could take all of those together.
but i have to watch interactions so seriously because of other meds im on. it really sucks to be limited in what meds i can have to help my mental state
