Anyone ever had someone insist multiple times that you need to write notes in color and not lay off when you tell them you've tried and it doesn't work? Personally all the different colors overwhelms me and I can't connect them together, I need them in their own contained sections but that's not how math notes work. Math is already extremely difficult and overwhelming for me (for seemingly no reason??? except most people don't have the same amount of trouble so idk) so having someone insist I do it their way because it definitely will help me honestly just reminds me of when people tell me to 'exercise more' to get rid of my physical disability. Not something that's happened recently, I'm just annoyed about how nobody can accept that I literally have no way to make math work for me except for having someone with me 1-1 that's also willing to let me get a bit distracted and chat a bit to relieve overwhelm and stress. (Tagging ADHD and autism because idk if these are related to this issue, sorry if they're inappropriate, don't know much about ADHD and taking an educated guess on autism)

I have heard that, not specifically directed at me however. Something similar is that as freshman in high school, we had a required life skills class and the teacher said that the only PROPER way to take notes was that we NEEDED to “write” all our notes in a picture code, in which different symbols replaced ALL words & phrases. Our notes shouldn’t have any WORDS in them, he said, only pictures from a memorized code that one was supposed to make up, so that a page of notes would look similar to the Wingdings font. We were required to take notes this way in his class about half the time, but worse he insisted that THIS is how we should take notes in every class from now on & especially in college! Stupidest BS I ever heard. If it helps someone to write that way, good for them. But insisting this concept is ThE bEst WaY is stupid.

@tigershark98 Oh gosh that sounds horrible. I can see why it would help some people but I'm pretty sure for most it would just be infuriating.
