the ocd i'm experiencing is becoming so difficult to deal with. i've had it my whole life and was diagnosed several years ago. it used to be more hygiene oriented but now it's all about validation, reassurance, and "balance". the balance one is confusing. it's kind of like a "just right" feeling that many of us with ocd know too well. does anyone else struggle with validation? i can't stop googling the same things over and over and asking people the same questions. it gets irritating to others.

The validation and reassurance ones are VERY relatable! It sounds so much like me, I don’t know how much of a help I can be as I don’t know either. Perhaps try to catch yourself, ask yourself before asking aloud, and keeping a journal has helped me tremendously (a family member recommended that, it works too!).

I do this too, all the time. I’m not the best at remembering in the moment but the thing that helps me the most is when my therapist reminds me that googling that same question, or asking someone again, or checking what I already know to be true in my logic brain is only feeding my OCD brain and I have to choose to let it win or to make my choice to stop the cycle. It takes A LOT of practice but it truly does help. I’m super competitive so framing it as a challenge helps me a lot.

I’m constantly seeking validation. My therapist’s advice was to resist the compulsion to be validated and sit with the discomfort/distress that this causes. It’s really hard and I haven’t had much success but I thought I would pass this along anyway. Good luck with everything 💚
I completely understand. Usually what I've done is to have a notebook dedicated to it. So when I do something satisfying, I'll write it in the book. But you gotta find your own system of writing. I really like organized charts and lists so my notebook has been designed to be like that. I went through and created my pages to be in that type of format before I even started writing down items. Hopefully that helps. 🤗
