My name is Sam, I've struggled with bipolar for years now but only recently have been diagnosed and I know absolutely nothing about my condition. I've been working with a therapist and she said we'd talk about it among everything else I deal with but I just don't know where to start. What do I need to know? I know it's different for everyone but I don't know how to ask these questions with my psychiatrist. He just kinda left me to flounder.

For starters, it is good that you got diagnosed so you can now slowly learn what to do to help you live more peacefully! Here you can learn and hear stories from other people who also have bipolar, like me :) Take it slowly, read about the disease and the treatment options and talk to your therapist about medications. Don't be afraid to ask all the questions you have.
Ask what type are you and what made them think you have it.
Bipolar disorders are chronic! they are life-long typically. ask your therapist to explain every detail of diagnosis and why you got diagnosed. ask any questions you feel the need to!
First look up your condition, that will definitely make you understand it better. Then make a list of questions you want to ask you therapist. Hope this helps
