Hi! What are your New Year’s resolutions?
Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD)
To not yell
my number one resolution is to make friends :) for the past five years i’ve isolated myself from everyone except my wife, and we separated about this time last year. we’ve stayed best friends and roommates so i’ve now watched her go through three different new relationships throughout the year, including the guy she cheated on me with, while i haven’t even had a single friend to talk to. it’s going to be probably the hardest resolution i’ve ever tried to stick to because my social anxiety is so bad, but i know that as long as i keep isolating myself i’ll never get over losing her. so yeah, not trying to get so deep or depressing in my very first message, but that’s why that resolution is so important to me. other ones include doing a better job of practicing my dbt skills and working my way up to exercising four days a week! i’ve always given myself vague goals like “lose weight” and “work on mental health” so i’m trying to be more specific this year. what about you??
I hope that you make friends this year and remember that the most important person is to love yourself. You’re worth all the love in the universe which is endless. I’m sorry that you’ve been going through so much pain. I empathize with you and I only hope that your new year will be better and you will feel less alone. One of my year’s resolutions is to have more courage to take risks to have an exciting new future. For example, perhaps starting a new class even though I am terrified of school and quitting my job.
thank you <3 i’m trying to work on being my own best friend! and i did start working on my resolution a little early by reaching out to an old friend yesterday ☺️ taking more risks is a GREAT resolution and honestly it takes courage just to decide to try. i bet a class would be so fun!! even though i completely get how scary school is. would you have to quit your job, or could you maybe cut your hours while you take a course?
