I’m meeting with my doctor to get prescribed meds for PTSD. I have been having really bad flashbacks and nightmares at night. I exhibit almost all ptsd symptoms and it’s extremely difficult. I guess my question is which meds helps with ptsd symptoms the most for you in the long run? I want it be informed when I meet with my doctor.

I was never told there was any meds to help with PTSD I have just been Zoloft for I don’t know how long now. I tried other meds for anxiety but I don’t like any of them, they make me feel horrible. I was prescribed Ativan just for two plane flights, very low dose and I have to say I wish I could have been prescribed that for my PTSD and anxiety. It didn’t make me feel like crap.

I’m on Wellbutrin, Paxil, getting off of mirtazapine, but there is nothing specific to ptsd sadly. I also take Gabapentin for anxiety and Valium for breakthrough attacks.

There are no meds specifically for PTSD
My doctor wanted to put me on paroxetine for my ptsd symptoms but right now I'm just sticking to sertraline.
I am glad to hear you getting the support you need - that can always be difficult and is an achievement 💕 I was diagnosed in January 2021 and was put on Rexulti (while taking pristiq and klonopin for GAD and MDD). I was on it for about 4 months and combined it with a few session of EMDR therapy. The emdr therapy worked like magic. Emdr is pretty intense and can be/is triggering, but in the long run it helped me so much. I strongly suggest emdr! No matter what, you got this!
The best med I’ve been put on for my ptsd is Zoloft (Sertraline) I’ve been on it for awhile and it really has helped. I’m also on Risperidone for dissociation. It’s been a big help I hope you get relief soon!
