I’m just taking preventative measures. I’m visiting my dad’s area of living to take money out of an old bank account that I have. Last time, I was scared shitless of seeing him and my stepmom and was awkward as hell in the bank. Today, I’m a lot more confident and tons less anxious. But last time, I got super depressed the next day. Idk how to prevent that from happening tomorrow again, but I figured I’d make a post about it to get some support. I brought a friend with me and dropped him off at his job interview, so I’ll at least have someone with me on my way home. I haven’t talked to my father in over a year. He’s manipulative and really hurt my sisters. It bothers me everyday to grieve the relationship I thought I wanted from him and my stepmom. It’s definitely a healing journey and a half, and tbh, idk what I’m doing and I forget why I’m doing it.

It's great that you have a friend with you for support during this time. To help prevent feeling depressed after the visit, try focusing on the positive aspects of your life and the progress you've made in your healing journey. Remember that it's okay to grieve the relationship you thought you wanted, but also acknowledge the strength and growth you've gained from moving forward. Reach out to supportive friends or a therapist if needed, and engage in self-care activities to help maintain your emotional well-being.
