I had such a horrible anxiety attack last night. My son has adhd and we are working with his Dr to get his meds adjusted to what he needs to help him. He had a Dr's appointment this morning and for some reason I over thought it last night and sent my self into an anxiety attack. My husband sent me to bed so I could calm down. He ended up taking our son and had me stay home. Does anyone else have random attacks over something so small and if so how do they calm there selfs down?

I have different coping strategies depending on how deep of a panic I'm in. Whenever I'm immobilized (can't move or talk) I usually try to concentrate on good things that have happened recently to bring myself back. when I'm able to move again after that, it's usually very minimal, so I try to play music (you can look up songs with certain bpms and create a playlist. match where you are -- a high bpm, and slowly get slower). I usually rock or sway my body to the song (this is actually proven to calm your nervous system and help bring you down from the up-rwgulation of a panic attack). and finally I use cold thing (cold water on the feet, ice cube in my hands or mouth, etc)

Omg yes!! How are you feeling now? I stress myself out over little things and sends me into a spiral.

@ash7 something I forgot to add on is deep touch stimulation. you can use weighted blankets, or for me personally, i like to have my partner lay on top of me
I had a really bad attack last night, at bed time. I usually try to stay still, not fight it, talk myself through it, focus on breathing. I also crank my air conditioner all the way up and grab my favorite blanket.
It happens to me! Not so often anymore, but it used to be debilitating. You've got this!
Hi 90smomma! I’m with you there. I will get random attacks from the smallest things. I have found that breathing exercises work well for me. If I am past the point where I can’t catch my breath, then I will take a cold shower. I’m not sure why that helps me, maybe because it helps take the focus off of what’s in my mind, and makes me think about the cold water instead. Anyways. Hope you can find some peace 💕
