how do you deal with sudden vivid flashbacks while you're working? I feel like it slows me down and makes me a million times less productive, I don't want to share what I'm going through with my co-workers but the flashbacks are becoming increasingly vivid and increasing in frequency and I'm at the point where I feel like I should tell at least my manager but IDK I need advice

My therapist told me to take a whiff of peppermint because it helps ground you.

@Steffith that's an interesting idea, I'll try that!

It depends on what job your doing but in general outside situations, sour candy and counting/math helps me

@RosalieSwift maybe put everything you do into counting. Like when ringing something up count how many items they have as you scan them. Or counting how long it takes someone to type in their information. Etc etc. You can ask if you can chew gum or secretly chew gum under a mask if they dont stress you out to much. I prefer them but I know a lot of people hate them.

You do not have to share details or your diagnosis to anyone. Let your manager know that you have an issue that is protected under the ADA and what you need for accommodation, such as every so often stepping aside to take a breather.
