Here's a question I've been struggling with lately. I was diagnosed with PTSD a few months ago and don't understand it very well. I'm not sure what is considered a flashback. I get really intrusive memories but it's not like I'm really back there again. Is that a flashback? I don't get panic attacks when they happen so I am a little confused.

Every person is different, some have nightmare, some relive it, some just have very detailed memories that just show up these are all forms of flash backs

Even my flashbacks start qs intrusive memories. A lot of my triggers are my memories. I have a specific flashback, and many many random memories. Unfortunately they are not memories I can get rid of. But different things affect people. Some people get triggered by physical things happening, others its mental.
it's important to remember that mental illness is different for everyone, there is no set rule book or symptoms that you can get. intrusive thoughts/memories can be just as debilitating as a flashback. they also don't always have to trigger a panic attack, sometimes those thoughts can just put you in a weird headspace and disrupt your day, which is still PTSD. the important thing is how you work through them and get yourself back on track, just remember your PTSD will look different than your neighbors PTSD, but that doesn't mean you aren't suffering just like them !
