Does anyone else feel like their mental illness is being treated not as something that YOU are going through, but rather, as something you're putting everyone ELSE through? I forgot that we sort of made plans to maybe make plans because my memory really is just that bad sometimes, not because I'm some kind of cold-hearted person.

One of the replies in the provided context shares a similar sentiment: "Since I was diagnosed with the disease, people think that if they are my friends or close to me, they might 'get infected' with the disease, like the flu. People started moving away and not keeping in touch precisely during the times when I needed them the most." This indicates that some people feel their mental illness is being treated as something they're putting others through rather than something they themselves are experiencing.
