I was bullied a lot as a kid, probably because of my ASD and ADHD. Now I thought that since I'm an adult, and I know and understand what happened and why, that I'd finally no longer be affected by it... sadly that is not the case. My girlfriend makes jokes that remind me of how my peers would make fun of me. When she does it I'll get flashbacks.. My sister will do the same. They are both very reserved and critical people and do not have a filter when they speak their mind. It's really hurtful. Having RSD also makes everything SO much worse.

I don't think I can get over being bullied either as I get what was going on now but I don't understand why as logically makes no sense and I've never saw a different or vulnerable person and had a thought of I'll make them feel bad The thought process makes zero sense to me Even little things like people staring at or laughing near me make me really anxious still

I totally get it. I'm 40 and I think I'll always be screwed up because of how I didn't fit in with the other kids.

Therapy and just learning how to cope with it is all we can really do I get triggered easily from my trauma people don’t even need to make hurtful comments to me just simple things can give me flashbacks and it’s so hard but since I’ve started therapy I manage them a lot better and get triggered a lot less

I definitely relate. Sometimes the triggers hit really hard. I hope things get better for you

I do understand, and I’m not sure if we’ll ever escape that completely, all we can do is communicate our feelings to those around us.
