My boyfriend was on his phone last night and I saw over his shoulder he received a text message from a random number that it looks like he has a text string with. The text was just “😍” but he didn’t respond to it (at least in that moment). I need your help thinking of logical reasons someone would send him that other than him cheating. My mind keeps going to him cheating and I get all panicky and that’s all I can focus on. We share our locations with each other so I know that everyday he goes straight to and from work and we are always together on the weekends (we don’t really have friends in the area). But why would someone send him that?? I can’t ask him because I don’t want him to know I was looking over his shoulder because he has gotten mad at me in the past for doing that.

@Britt96 the fact that he threatens to breakup with you for “snooping” might be a red flag in him. Not in you. If he’s in a relationship he should have nothing to hide. Privacy is okay. But, threatening to breakup feels defensive? I don’t know the situation. But In any case, you deserve an honest open relationship.

There’s nothing wrong with asking. If you’re in a committed relationship, you are valid in saying something. It doesn’t have to feel like you were snooping. All you have to say is you happened to glance over and see it. And calmly ask what it was, not making assumptions(:

first off.....if you are in a relationship full of love and trust...then he wouldn't get upset if you asked him about it. If he is that angry and threatens to break up with you, then maybe that's for the best you not be with him. Because if he is getting that defensive he is probably hiding something. Relationships should be full of trust and be able to have open communication and talk about concerns, even if nothing is wrong. If he gets mad and breaks up with you, then he obviously wasn't the one for you sweetie. Gotta have 100% trust in a relationship period. Or it won't work.

Well some logical reasons besides cheating could be that he had said something or sent a pic of a cute animal to someone. Or he said something about someone random that maybe that person finds sexy like if he was talking to a female coworker about a male celeb. 🤷🏽‍♀️ I dunno just some thoughts. But I'd say if it's really bothering you I'd ask regardless of him getting mad. You are together so he should understand you walked by and happened to look down and see that emoji.

@Serenity_Love If I ask him, he will threaten to break up with me again for “snooping on his phone”. And all his friends he talks about at work are guys. I dont know, I know I’m not thinking rationally, but I just can’t stop until I find a really good reason. Also it bothered me that it was a random number and he didn’t have it saved. I dont know I’m probably overthinking it but it’s causing me to spiral
