Tips on studying a topic when I have a test but not having the energy/using my energy on other topics I’m more interested in? Often I have to study for math, and I have a test on Wednesday and am learning I should study for them quite thoroughly since I tend to easily forget things on these calc tests and I always do really bad on them. I usually use my energy on the things i really want to like my spins but that then makes me exhausted and when I have full days off I am tired almost the entire afternoon and by the evening I’m tired + no motivation to even try. I feel too busy on other days to do it either and all I wanna do is indulge in my other spins (i have way too many to balance well) but calculus is one thing I like or really want to enjoy it just feels so forced so I don’t. It is quite exhausting and I feel so guilty not wanting to study since my grade would drop low and I don’t understand the content well (which I will need for my future engineering career—something I love with all my heart). However I also KNOW i won’t be doing all that math by hand in the future and am actually learning programming specifically for math so I can have another skill, but that doesn’t mean I want to skip the by hand all together since it will help me understand the how and why. Right now I want to study but I know if I try to i’ll just not retain anything and just skim over every word without reading it since I am so tired. Tips? Tricks?

I forgot to mention I desperately want to fix my study habits so that in college next year I can do what I love and understand it fully and pass, but I’m scared for my chronic illness and autism that I won’t be able to accomplish it. I know I can do it, it’s just really demotivating to know I struggle with it now since this is the rigor I may experience and more next school year. if I have to I have the option of part time but that takes away scholarships and stuff I need for money to pay for it, but it may be better for me since my EDS is starting to mess me up.
