How do you get over the guilt after eating?

The most effective thing for me when I was recovering (as extreme as it might sound) is I did not allow myself to look into any mirrors or reflections. I wore baggy clothing so that if I did see my reflection there was nothing to criticize. By doing this you stop constantly feeding your body dysmorphia. After a few weeks I had mustered up the courage to look in a mirror wearing shorts (my legs were what triggered me most) and when I looked in the mirror I was astonished. My body dysmorphia had been telling me for so long that I was obese and ugly, but for that moment I saw my true self I did not hate it.

I try and reaffirm myself that I’m ok, and I challenge the thoughts overflowing in my head however I can. Breathing in, breathing out, just over and over and telling myself I’m not a failure. Constant stimulation or distraction also helps, anything that can get you away from your head in a comforting way. You deserve happiness and deserve to eat without guilt, im struggling immensely with it myself so I completely understand but these are some things I at least try to practice <3
