What helps with nightmares/flashbacks? I have PTSD due to sexual abuse as a child and as an adult. I know many feel angry after this but I only feel immense sadness and it’s been years. How do you cope? I want to feel whole again.

My service dog is really good at pulling me out of flashbacks. I know it’s a huge privilege to have him, but I have no idea what I’d do without him.

If you're asking for a medication that treats nightmares, there is one. It's used off-label for nightmares. It's typically used to lower blood pressure. Remember w meds there are always possible side effects. Prazosin. ✋Good luck.

I have a mental health professional that is amazing, he helps me alot and Journaling helps me alot as well. I feel like I can't talk to family bc they don't know what I am going through.

Video games and reading are a great distraction for me. My hobbies help keep me positive and help keep the flashbacks from making me spiral. Journaling and burning what I wrote is also a nice release. As for nightmares I've never taken anything, I've just focused on what I want to dream about and over time it's helped me literally plan my dreams. I still have nightmares on an occasion but it's getting better.

Journaling can help. Often we feel the same thoughts and feeling over and over. Sometimes writing them down helps us move on to new thoughts
