does anyone else find it takes them longer to get over an illness than other people because your energy still has to go into managing your everyday symptoms? I've currently got a cold and my work colleagues don't seem to understand why it's hitting me so hard!

Yes. Sicknesses never used to hit me very hard. Now it's really rough

It's 3 months later but update it wasn't a cold it was a chest infection! I was so used to my normal symptoms that I didn't realise how bad it was!

Chronic illness can effect the immune system due to the strain it puts on the body, so that’s usually why it takes longer. I know I always take at least twice as long to recover from acute issues

Yes, I feel the same way. I tend to also end up with a secondary infection after I have a cold, like bronchitis or sinusitis. I suspect it's because I have respiratory symptoms already but I'm not sure

I deal with this too. I always say it takes me double the time to feel better than a normal healthy person!
