TW possible, talking about Aunt Flow so i notice birth control isn't on the medication list but it plays a huge part in my pain management. I'm on the pill right now but the best kind for me is the ring so I could skip my off week and have no fluctuation of hormones. sadly I can't afford it anymore and it's always the week before my period I get terrible cramps and my body just goes to shit on me. I'm extremely tired of it but this is nothing compared to the pain I would have without birth control. who else can relate?

I was in the er every month for a year because of this. The first couple times I got the "oh honey, it's only anxiety" while my neck was literally so swollen I couldn't swallow food. My brain hurts trying to understand all this stuff. I've heard anxiety, pmdd, fibromyalgia, migraines, IBS, hormones, and clinical endocannabinoid deficiency are all connected and it sounds like the biggest medical conspiracy theory that I would not believe if I weren't literally living it.

I absolutely relate! Having fibro has a huge impact on the severity of my physical and emotional symptoms during my period. It’s not something I was ever told before, though, but I happened to find articles when researching fibro that briefly mention increased pain during period. It’s so frustrating, because it seems like there isn’t a lot of research on it, and doctors aren’t really able to do much more. But I’m thankful for what does exist to make things a little less horrible. I hope that moving forward more people will be understanding of how much of an impact fibro has on multiple systems in our body. I really wish more doctors understood hormones, as well, because they really can impact all kinds of things. I know estrogen is important in “delivering” dopamine and other brain chemicals, which also has a role in depression/ADHD management. And fluctuations in hormones can have such a profound affect on chronic conditions. I’m still trying to put it all together in my brain, but it’s tough to organize.
