I’m so overstimulated rn.. I’m dog watching a family members dog while they are out of town and I am sooooo gd overstimulated. Something about having change inside my house always causes this. It’s one thing if I need to change my daily routine but at the end of the day I can come home to my house - as it was- and I’ll be ok. But once the change is *inside* my house I just can’t handle it. I don’t know how to calm myself down and I still have so many days left of watching this pup. I love him and am spoiling the shit out of him but damn my mind is not liking this lol.

i just got a puppy a few days ago after 25 years of never owning a dog and it is HARD! it disrupts a whole routine. the dog really will be okay if you seperate yourself for awhile and do your thing! that’s the best thing you can do for the both of you, actually

I really understand this feeling. Being overwhelmed is manageable when your safe space is available. When the world is in your space there’s no room to remove yourself. I normally use one room for just me, put my headphones in and do everything I normally do of an evening. You can go back out to the dog in the morning, they will be okay 😊

Try focusing on your breathing to help calm yourself down. If possible, call someone you trust and talk to them about your feelings. You can also create a designated space in your house where you can retreat to when you feel overwhelmed. Remember that this situation is temporary and you'll soon have your home back to normal.
