I just started dating this really amazing man, and he was one of the first people I ever opened up to about my anxiety, complex ptsd, S.A. and Bipolar depression. He took it all so well. But I still find it necessary to handle the harder days alone. I don’t want to put all that on him yet. I figured once I can handle this more myself then I’ll let him in.
My boyfriend’s awesome about it. I’ve told him I don’t like talking about it and he totally respects that. When I’m having an anxiety attack I just have to say “ptsd” and he knows what to do. I just laid out what I wanted from him when that happened early on and he’s adhered to it ever since

I think the most important thing to remember is that he’s still there even after all those tough days, and so are you. You both choose to stick together and get through it together. That’s beautiful, even when it’s really really bad. I’m sorry, I hope things get a little easier
It wasn't always amazing though. He wanted to make this work and I sometimes still struggle to make it work. It's not easy but it never is in relationships when you have mental health issues. Sometimes we argue but everytime I'm having a hard time he's always there and I'm grateful. Sometimes it's the people you didn't expect to help you.
That’s really sweet of him, I completely understand the retreating into yourself part. It’s been very toxic in my past relationships to the point where they think it’s a problem, I’m hoping I will be as lucky to find someone as supportive as you have. That’s amazing.
I doubt it's healthy but I tend to stick to myself and kinda hide myself away when it happens. He'll pat my back and rub in circles to help me calm down faster. He tells me to slow my breathing and that I'll be okay.
