Anyone have tips on how to work with my fiancé who says they have to “deal with” my bipolar?

As a married person, it’s not easy. However, if they’re making you feel guilty for something you can’t control, that’s straight up toxic. I’ve been there, in past relationships. Your s/o needs to understand that while you CAN work on yourself, it’ll never GO AWAY. If they can love you despite that statement, they’re a real keeper 💕 but remember, always be trying to better yourself too. Meds/therapy/journaling is my holy trinity. And it wouldn’t hurt to get evaluated every so often… just found out i PROBABLY have ASD in addition to bipolar, which explains a lot, and helps my wife to understand too.

  @DitsyDiabetic I do therapy and meds, never could get I to journaling, and we’ve had a few talks about it but I’m not sure it actually got through to them, they also make jokes like “this show gives me ptsd” and it hurts bc they’re making light of a serious condition I suffer from, and whenever I try to explain that something bothers me, they get upset and sulky and won’t listen; I’m not going to break up with them, we’re going to work through this together, but it’s just difficult when they won’t listen

    @Croccin look… I’m not gonna tell you to do anything, but if they refuse to talk that’s toxic as f and it’s going to make your mental stability go downhill fast. Something I’ve learned…. You NEED to look out for yourself first, or you’re gonna end up with relationship issues anyway. S/O can come second. You at the very least need to pressure them into having a nice long conversation about all this…. Don’t put up with it. You both need and deserve better. If they really care about you they’ll listen…
