I also dissociate frequently in the same way and it's worse on some days than others. I don't think it's something we can actively stop necessarily, since fighting it or trying to stop it may just prolong it or make us feel worse. What helps is I remind myself that it will pass and that every time I dissociate, no matter how uncomfortable I get, it does always pass quicker than you realize. I think just learning to work with it and change how you think about it helps ❤️

I think its reasonable to dissociate, your body is trying to keep you safe. That said, first and foremost be kind and patient with yourself when you work on unlearn what I assume was a super helpful skill to have at one point. In small ways try and find a part of your body that feels safest. Sometimes thats easier than trying to completely ground. If meditation is something thst feels relaxing and grounding try and find one thst really works for you! Some people really like to grounding with all 5 senses - find something you can see, hear, taste, etc. Personally I find grounding to my body to be distressing. I like grounding exercises that ground me to my environment. I take a rock and study every bit of it in detail. Or stare at the details of a leaf or moving branch. Some people like to have a compression layer on - they sell compression shirts for this purpose. It kinda simulates a hug which can be grounding and stabilizing. But whatever you choose to try please know its going to take more time than you may want or think to unlearn and relearn these habits and thats okay. Keep practicing. Keep trying. Keep being kind with yourself.

@SunInAugust what an absolutely incredible and super helpful response ✊🥹 rooting for all of us
I message my friends and generally try talking to people to ground me. Or play online games with people so I feel more pressure to stay *awake* ! Good luck
