Hello, I have been diagnosed with Fibromyalgia for about 2.5 years and I'm still learning to deal with it. I have tried different medications, and different doctors. the side affects from the pills are terrible qith veey little relief. My question is, does anyone have a medication they take that actually works and doesn't give you the horrible side affects?

I've been getting them since my late 20s and I'm now 54 I'm getting ready to have an epidural and I pray it takes. I did have a 2 year reprieve off of the steroids (kenalog) after I had both knees replaced. Then 3 years later the DJD became active in my back so now I'm back to more steroid injections

I get steroid injections cause the fm causes these deep knots. The first time I had the injections I had 2 knots that had been there 30 years the muscles have a little atrophy from bring like that for so long but I am in less pain on one side and the other side it doesn't work as well on. It's something though. I know my pain will never be gone but I'll take any relief I can get

Effexer helped me a lot but gave me anxiety. I'm now on Pristiq and that seems to help. I have had to go up on dose two times which is a bummer

My doctor has me on a fairly low dose of 4 different medications. (Gabapentin, Meloxicam, cyclobenzaprine, and duloxetine) the side effects are pretty minimal for me and I'm never fully pain free but it's controlled enough that I can do most things. If I also add medical marijuana then the pain is almost gone, but I don't like how it makes me feel so I only use it when the painsamnia is bad. I also use a heating blanket (like a heating pad for my whole body) and gentle movement as tolerated. I have done a diet overhaul and that helps with some symptoms but has not impacted my pain much.

I started an aip diet for my auto immune disease and have found it helps with my fibromyalgia also I have less down days may be something you may want to try.

I have had the same problem. I tried several different meds and all had horrible side effects without actually helping with any of my pain. I honestly gave up on meds. Iā€™ve been trying to focus on diet and pt. I also try to exercise but I say this cautiously. Thereā€™s a fine balance between not enough movement and too much movement. Also, thereā€™s the fact that some days are better than others. Sometimes I feel good and I can do all the things and get all my pt and exercises done. Other days I barely get out of bed. Itā€™s a constant battle but we have to keep trying every day.

@Stitchgirl thank you, I appreciate any advice. I have to say I am the same if I am too physical I'm out for the count for at least a day or two. Has focusing on the diet helped?

@Heatsponge Iā€™m pretty new to trying the diet but Iā€™ll update once Iā€™ve been going long enough to see if/how much it helps.
