i hate myself i came home after two nights smoking weed at my boyfriends house to drive my dad to the airport and asked where he was going and why even though he already told me and it was because of his birthday i feel like such a jerk for forgetting and i was rude to him the other day and made it a whole thing and i lost my scholarship and im so tired and i get all wound up and make things worse for everyone. how can i just calm down and idk stop overcompensating? i haven’t been taking my pills and my therapist says i should be medicated for anxiety but i don’t have time to find a general practitioner bc my boyfriend needs me all the time

I'd over all try to find a balance, it's good to help others but prioritizing another before yourself when your not doing the greatest makes it feel a lot more like your being strangled by everything, and I'd not think so much of the birthday thing, I know it's hard not to but, mistakes will happen, same with regretting countless things, I'm sure even if you find time to least do something out of the way, for them it'd make it up for them, and allow you to feel less shitty about it, and it's okay to deviate from medicine, it's not exactly always the best, but it can help, and honest opinion about the situation I'd try to make time to find a general practitioner, and after that's settled even just a bit then you can give them more time y'know?

@Polistinae I'd say that just for a little bit prioritize getting a gp and all those health care things cause you should be high priority in life. It's important that you are able to take care of yourself to the best of your ability. So I'd say try to get all the medical stuff sorted out before doing some of the other urgent stuff. In my eyes, once you have the medical stuff sorted out then you don't have to concern yourself with those things as much cause it should be less work once you're set up with a gp, etc. Then, at that point, you can go back to doing things how you were before, but then at least you'd have a gp and everything else you need. I just would recommend setting aside some time for all of this because it is important.

      1) this is a lot 2) you need to prioritize your health, if your boyfriend has care needs that he cannot meet on his own, that does not mean you are responsible for meeting those needs 3) you need to set a boundary with your boyfriend that allows you to seek healthcare 4) get back on your meds 5) get a primary care physician or psychiatrist to help you get started on being medicated for anxiety
