This is sort of embarrassing to ask, but has anyone else ever gotten an itchy vagina on their period? I'm talking itchy on the inside! It's not an std because I'm a virgin, and I haven't noticed any weird discharge or bad smell or anything like that, but the itch is driving me crazy! It kinda hurts to pee sometimes too.

Update: I tried organic cotton pads and it seems to be working! I think I was reacting to something in the material.

Didn't see the updated info in the threafs until after I sent my message. Glad to hear it was just a product issue and that you found something that works for you!

Sounds like a yeast infection....but definitely see your doctor, call your nurse hotline (can sometimes prescribe things over the phone), or go to an urgent care if you don't have those other 2 options. My doctor has said they can be cause by bacteria or just hormonal changes. My mom was born with a shrunken kidney and so gets them all the time because of it. It's not uncommon for baby girls to get them either, because they wear diapers and poo is getting all mixed in there. I feel like most women get a yeast infection at least once in their life, but if it doesn't go away quickly or gets worse, definitely can become quite a problem. If it is a yeast infection, I find that drinking pure cranberry juice in it's early stages usually helps it go away (no sweetener added as it sugar can make things worse not better).

Go to the doctor.. it could cause sterility.

For me I get that too, but it’s usually sensitivity to certain pads or the fact that I get vagina dryness during my period, so it starts to feel a little uncomfortable lol

@Delirium ah yes, an allergic reaction is highly likely. Lots of pads/tampons use latex, perhaps that or another material? I love cotton pads they don’t make you sweat.

It’s completely possible to have a UTI of some sort! I used to get them all the time when I was younger. Especially around the time of my period! I’d go get a urine test done at your doctor. They’ll send you home with some antibiotics that day if you have any infection. Good luck!

Either a yeast infection or bacterial vaginosis . Either way go see the obgyn

it could be a yeast infection! they don't necessarily produce weird discharge or a foul smell, esp not when you're on your period and actively bleeding all over your symptoms lol. you may also have a "diaper rash" sorta thing if you use pads, if that's the case you just need to change your pad more often and do a lil rinse of everything when you go to the bathroom. alternatively, you can use baby wipes instead of toilet paper, which I found super helpful when I used pads and still do now that I use incontinence wear

You could totally have some kind of infection. Please go consult with your OBGYN!
