I was diagnosed with adhd in the earlier years of covid, I went to a php program after my hospitalization and some of the staff there brought up that I might not have adhd because I "show signs of bpd" everyone spoke as if I had bpd and they are sending me to a program that's helps address it for therapy. Is it possible to have both? and what is the likelihood of that happening?

Its definitely possible to have both. My little brother has been diagnosed with both BPD and ADHD, along with a lot of other things

Bpd is a personality disorder that's caused by trauma or neglect. As a person with ADHD, it's absolutely possible to have both. Many of my friends have both, in fact.

Current research does not show that BPD is caused by trauma and neglect.

It's also possible you don't have BPD. Some people are misdiagnosed until their ADHD is recognized. I would trust an official diagnosis, but if some of the staff are just offering their opinions, I wouldn't give it too much weight. Are they sending you to this program without an official diagnosis of BPD?

it's more like specialized therapy for people who show signs, i dont have a diagnosis since i'm still technically a teen. questioning the bpd is recent and they already knew abt the adhd diagnosis so I doubt they would recognize it that way. Thanks for your input

I have both BPD and ADHD... I had to fight to figure out what was Wrong with me... I visited a number of Drs who all kept prescribing me all kinds of different meds, some of which had bad interactions with each other... Until I Finally found a Dr who understands me! As she always says it's All about the Dopamine, meaning either you have too much or too little... But Yess it is Very Possible to have Both... Good Luck figuring out what works best for you
