Well everyone, my concern is correct. I was officially diagnosed with ADHD yesterday and was prescribed adderall. I’m really nervous about it because we discussed the warning signs of it and the possibility of it inducing manic episodes too, so does anyone have any advice? Recognizing symptoms if it’s too much or not enough or any other red flags? Thanks in advance for any help!

Like someone else said, adult ADHD can be hard to diagnosis at times so it is really great it was recognized and you are getting the care you need! Adhd meds (Vyvanse for me) changed my life and I hope it does yours too. Obviously, your doctor knows better than me, so follow their advice first lol. But in my personal experience, increasing your dose slowly makes mania less likely or you will feel your mood get higher slower and/or it won't be as shocking as an intense and sudden manic episode. Things can be great, of course and they will be the you start! It's shocking what neurotypicals have the capability to do without meds and now you have it! But when things feel too good to be true and you're extremely/overly happy and feel like you're on top of the world and not sleeping as much, hypo mania/mania is probably setting in, again this is just my personal experience. But when you find that dose that is effective without triggering any mood changes, it is a fabulous feeling! Life feels more doable! If you need anything, my inbox welcomes you! Good luck 🥳

Honestly with ADHD in adults it is harder to spot so you got diagnosed with it and with Adderall please be careful with the amount of pills I take a day. It is very addictive
