17 yrs. Because I came from a small town and “kids” couldn’t have PCOS. It was just “period problems”. So I’ve been on birth control for it technically longer than I’ve been formally diagnosed.

I was on a progesterone-only pill (specifically the sharobel tablet) for 9 years. It started out perfectly, I was feeling amazing, but after a few years I started experiencing horrible symptoms - constant exhaustion/lethargy, some cramping, consistent nausea and a period that seemed it would never end. As of earlier this year I was put on 2.5 mg of Norethindrone and so far that is working amazingly.

@Junos I LOVE my norethindrone as well. I’m on 5mg twice a day, but it’s the only progestin pill I’ve done this well on

@100Percent_K I'm on the 5mg tablets twice a day also. Do you have bad cramps with yours? Lately I've been having cramps and shooting pain, so I was wondering if this is normal or not. I've been taking them for a little over 2 weeks. ♡

@Junos wow! I think I gotta look into that. I have to do something different. Getting the same symptoms

@Abbierose2022 definitely do if you’re having the same symptoms! Talk with your doctor and they should be able to help- most likely they’ll slowly start increasing dosages of the minipill, and be upfront with them if that’s not working!!

I have been on it consistently, no placebos, no periods for 8 of those 11 yrs. My cramps have always been really bad. I've also been on maybe 4 or 5 different pills?? Each one had its pros and cons. Breakthrough bleeding happens often, but my cramps are eliminated. Pros: milder/less periods, my facial hair grows slower, and my puberty allowed my breasts to finish growing. Cons: on this current pill I've been dealing with acne, mood swings etc. Many women I've talked to Don't know how they are without bc. I also have dealt with weight gain on the particular pill I'm currently on. I can definitely say that I haven't had any cysts rupture etc since starting the pill. Being on the pill long means the pill I'm taking keeps changing bc it's effectiveness wears off.

I'm glad you shared this! I've been on it almost 2 years, (portia), have you felt any implications being on it 11 yrs?

@SodaPop Or could you describe your experience (pros and cons?)I don't think I'll be going off of birth control anytime soon just because I don't wanna get surgery again >.< .
