hello, I'm Chantel nice to meet you all! šŸ˜Š Previously, I had breast cancer. I have a question. Is anyone taking or decided not to take Tamofloxen or other blockers?

Yes, I refused to take hormone blockers. I take fenbendazole with other alternative meds.

I tried tamoxifen, but quit already after a month. It dropped my blood counts. Then also most of the nasty side effects listed. In my case, i was only between stage 1 and stage 2 and already did ljmpectomy, radiation and chemo. Oncologists are so extreme, for another like 2%, they wanted ne to do tamoxifen. Just crazy. I did try a Lupron shot. It was supposed to be just a one month shot. Mainly, i accepted it because i used to get terrible migraibes related to my menstrual cycle. Chemo really helped cut them down. And my oncologist stated that the Lupron coukd cut out my ovaries and stop tge migraines. It was awful. It brought on 100% migraines. It didnt even lighten after the 1 month. Oncologist tried to tell me that the migraine increase couldnt be from that because it would have gone back to pre-shot level at the 1 month mark. I dropped that oncologist. Took many years to got back down to 50% migraines. Rest of the story, 20 years later, i did get a 2nd primary breast cancer. Caught it super early (stage 0). Double mastectomy and just DONE with cancer, hopefully forever.

@55isMe hello just read you post and wish you well. I'm 54 last year had lumpectomy and a month of radiation and on tamoxifen too.

@kathyv i didnt see any chemo listed. That is awesome. It probably means it was caught early enough. As far as tamoxifen, it caused me a lot of issues. It is a very toxic drug that causes problems with a lot of women. I am glad that i only tried it for a month. I have never looked back on my decision to stop it. Truthfully with my latest cancer, the new mammography detected the cancer before it even forned into a solid tumor. Sooooo much more advanced. 20 years again, mammography failed to find it. I had to show them where it was for them to have the mammogram barely pick it up. Then a failed needle aspiration biopsy. It was 1.5 years later before I got a referral to a surgeon. Then found out it actually was positive for cancer afterwards. Point is. With new imaging, id just do the yearly mammogram. Instead of having a drug interfere every day of my life. Hands down. That's me.

hi, I'm on tamoxifen and prostap (leuprorelin acetate). I also have terrible joint pain and it exacerbates my lymphoedema too for several weeks after each injection. Have you stopped taking the hormone suppression altogether? Would you mind explain more? Thank you so much.

I wasn't a candidate for Tamoxifen due to my medical history and the side effects so I had my ovaries taken out instead to suppress most of the production of my estrogen.

I took Tamoxifen for almost a year and it was not nice. My prayers are with you šŸ™šŸ™

I never heard of seed cycling, good luck. But since the other responders had such a hard time on tamoxifen compared to me, i want to mention that i have a naturopath who guides me to the right supplements that can help me and are not contraindicated to my important medications. I have an extensive regimen and Iā€™m sure that has been helping me thru this a lot. (Diet too.)

I just discovered a thing called ā€œseed cyclingā€! Itā€™s all natural, but itā€™s supposed to help regulate hormones (a plus for those of us with hormone driven BC) itā€™s all natural and there are 2 different blends that you rotate throughout each month. As this process is supposed to help regulate hormones, it should help greatly with hot flashes etc as they are also hormone related. I literally only just started this 4 days ago, so I donā€™t have a lot to report just yet ā€¦ but worth a try right?! Itā€™s called ā€œbeeyaā€ if anyone else is interested ā¤ļø

I took Tamoxifen for about 6 months and for me personally it was dreadful. I became a completely different person, terrible mood swings, hot flashes, depression ā€¦ so I stopped. Then they suggested zoladex (the implant they put in your stomach to stop your period) and an estrogen blocker ā€¦ both also awful! I just couldnā€™t tolerate any of it, on the estrogen blocker and zoladex I seriously Could barely walk my joints got so bad. So I am in the process of really fine tuning my diet, I saw an integrative oncologist for supplement advice (after having the RGCC test) and am trying to ward off a recurrence the natural route ā€¦ I guess only time will tell on that šŸ¤·ā€ā™€ļø but I couldnā€™t live on any of the medications.

I'm taking Tamoxifen now. I was told once my ovaries are removed I will be switched to another medication. I finished chemo in December so haven't been on it but for a few months. Anyone else have the worst hot flashes ever?

Hey! I took tamoxifen for a while but got bone metastasis anyway. In my case the cancer is super responsive to estrogen so we switched to more aggressive hormone therapy but I donā€™t think thereā€™s any reason to think it wouldnā€™t work well for other cases! I had some mild hot flashes when i started tamoxifen and it may have made me tired but taking it before bed helped, instead of in the morning.

@VigilanteLover how did you know you had bone metastasis? Were you in pain, or was it picked up on a scan? How are you doing now? šŸ’•

@Steviewonder i had a little pain and even got a ct scan but nothing. Only a pet scan eventually picked it up. My cancer markers are finally back to normal, first time since last november (only 2 weeks ago was it finally normal). Getting another scan called FES soon, itā€™s new and measures specifically estrogen receptors and should be more accurate than if i got another pet scan, since bone that is repairing could light up as more cancer. I hope any of this is helpful for you :)
