Do you ever see people who are so successful at your age and wish that you could be like that? :/ I always feel worthless compared to other people my age, nothing but a burden because of my issues and inability to function normally

How do you define “successful?” That can be a very damaging and unrealistic word. This society is ableist and doesn’t allow for differences in personality, opinion or ability. It’s not your fault.

I feel that way too, I come from a really high achieving family, phds, engineers, etc, and I'm a design student. It's something that I love that I can get a job in, but on top of feeling shameful that I'm not in stem (even though my parents support my decision) I struggle with bipolar, ADHD, and arthritis. I did very well in highschool but in college I broke. I got poor grades and nearly failed my second semester and had to come home in the middle of my third. I'm now going to have to stay at school for an extra year and I feel less than my peers, some of whom are already on internships. However, right now I'm working really hard to take care of myself and go to therapy, I'm part time school, part time work. I'm starting to put myself back together and figure out how to heal from trauma and manage things going forward. Making short term goals for myself has really helped me start to feel more successful where I am. Weather it's sticking to a long craft project all the way through, or reading a challenging book, or updating your resume so it's ready to go when you're able to apply to jobs. It could even be something like picking a mental health symptom that really gets in your way, and focusing on that to find new coping skills that will make life easier for you

@Annie24 Yeah exactly, but when everyone around you is successful and is pressuring you, it feels like there's no time left in the world. The definition of successful I always see the most around me is people who have graduated high school or college, have jobs, are able to clean and take care of themselves easily, etc. I just never feel like enough, you know?

@Annie24 thank you for this
