hi šŸ‘‹ this is my first post on here. I was diagnosed with ASD when I was about 7 or 8 along with other things such as depression and anxiety. I recently started seeing a therapist and they have me a little paranoid that I might not have ASD because my mother told me that I was diagnosed with ASD because of trauma and my therapist said that was not true and I should look into getting tested because they're not so sure I do but I feel like I do but now I'm not so sure and I just don't know what to think anymore.

Now I am just sharing what Iā€™ve gathered from my own extensive research and Iā€™m not a professional. CPTSD from childhood and ASD look very similar and for mental health people who arenā€™t specialized in CPTSD and ASD both they tend to just label it as CPTSD if there is any trauma. I wouldnā€™t be focused on labels too much rn bc regardless of the label the struggle and problems are real.

@emorainbow i can see how thst would be difficult to deal with. If they are invalidating you and it makes you feel less safe to be your authentic tic self with them but you still want to see them can you put boundaries around the topic? Do you think they are open to accepting your point of view?
