Schedule time if your calendar to do things that you enjoy, or to try something new that you think would be relaxing. I have a hard time with self care like this during the school year, but intentionally setting aside that time really helps

iā€™ve found using baby oil is really helpful for me to calm down after a shower. iā€™ve also purchased fuzzy socks and wear them as ā€œbed timeā€ socks. and i got lavender spray for my pillow and a night mask. these little steps iā€™ve added into my routine have helped me feel more control emotionally and help me see stuff isnā€™t always scary. ive come from narcissistic abuse too and have ptsd - and ive found these little weird steps helpful to calm myself down. i guess building up my self care routine more really helped. so i suggest maybe looking into that too? i even got a new hair brush and that helped. looking in the mirror and reflecting and seeing myself with these items physically in a mirror was like. a little mind altering and showed me itā€™ll be okay.

if you are over stimulated - sometimes for me taking socks off helps too. the compression can sometimes be overwhelming and iā€™ll oddly enough feel a bit better after taking them off. loose clothing too (im sure u probably are in some, happy for you and your baby!) is helpful to decrease stimulation. wear clothes that you are soothed by too. sentimental stuff helps.

oh gosh that sounds amazing you are winning - iā€™m happy for you!! have you tried using essential oils or any creams like a salve to help? sometimes strong oils will trigger my body into some form of temporary rest and itā€™ll help me gain more control to help me calm down. oils on top of skin go straight to the blood stream and can trigger responses in the nervous system to relax by default.
