more of a vent than a question: I told my boss I need fewer hours and days because I don't have enough spoons to continue the current schedule ( I explained what spoon theory was) her response: well I get it I just don't want to work sometimes too and I can always give you a longer hours day and then another short day after. she's able bodied and I don't think I articulated my situation well enough to her. I didn't challenge the extra long day comment and now I feel stuck. How do I fix this? I want to stay at this job but I'm so frustrated right now

Yes bring up ADA and get a medical note/records ready if need be. It’s reasonable so they can’t just say no.

Thank you everyone for the support and advice! I think if she does try to schedule me for a long day too many days in a row again I will bring up the ADA to remind her. She said she didn't realize she had scheduled me for 7 days in a row and that makes me nervous as to what kind of manager she is 😕

Definitely contact HR if that's a possibility! Maybe a doctors note too. Like the other commenter said, this could easily become an accessibility and discrimination issue under the ADA in the US, and I know the uk and some other countries have similar laws
