so I've been wanting to get a cat for a long time. like since I turned 19. I just want a companion to keep me company while my husband's at work and I'm all alone. what are the benefits of having a cat when you suffer from anxiety and depression?

my cat is my bestest pal, truly dont know what id do without him. he is so naturally such an amazing emotional support cat, if he hears me crying or even talking differently or upset he comes over and sits by me or on my chest when he can and purrs until i feel better. he sleeps next to me every night without fail and hes so sassy and makes me laugh. another reason a cat might be good is motivation (depression can make doing normal life things hard sometimes, it can be nice to have a reason you have to get up). you gotta clean the box and feed your cat and play with him and make sure hes healthy and up to date on vaccines and in my case, my kitty has some health issues and needs medication daily. i always recommend getting a cat, they are the best :-)

My cat usually keeps me company she's not great support most of the time as she's a tortoise shell kitten and is naughty as heck. Cats can be great emotional support especially older cats as they're usually more calmer and more cuddly. I've realized that having a playfully cat has kind of helped with my depression as it gives me something to do. I do suggest getting one.

My cats come when they're called and do small tricks. They give me a reason to get up in the morning, a reminder Im loved for little things. They tend to know when Im upset and just appear. Their tiny crazy gives me a smile and laugh where I would normally not find one. Don't forget to check local foster programs in shelters! You can help cute, fluffy babies younger than you can adopt and find the perfect match along the way. They usually provide all supplies.

My cats are amazing! They act like dogs but they're calmer than my dogs. They LOVE to snuggle with me and follow me all around the house so they can talk to me and rub up against me. I say go for it! They're amazing companions if you get a good one. Also boys tend to be more snuggly in my experience. Both of my cats are boys. Adopting an older cat too will ensure their personality will remain fairly the same. I got my orange tabby at 6 years old. I got lucky with my kitten and he's stayed super affectionate even in adulthood.

cats are so wonderful. I have 3 and each one provides me with diffefent things. Ones a big cuddler and has the loudest purr, one likes to follow me around the house and just watch what im doing, and the third is talkative and sleeps with me at night, and trusts me enough to let me give him belly rubs! its very much all in how you raise the cat. If youre with them a lot when theyre young theyll love you to pieces.

there's actually a show about this um... What's it called... After life! A guy looses the love of his life and everytime he tries to die the dang dog needs something and saves his life. Eventually he breaks through his depression at the end of the series, mostly.

Well first I'd recommend getting one and making it an emotional support! That allows them to travel more places with you! Your furry baby wouldn't have to leave your side as much. "According to one Australian study, cat owners do have better psychological health than people without pets. On questionnaires, they claim to feel more happy, more confident, and less nervous, and to sleep, focus, and face problems in their lives better." "Because of a cat's ability to calm us, lower our stress levels, and offer companionship, they are great therapy animals for a wide variety of uses and patients. While a cat isn't a substitution for medication or therapy, there's no denying the subtle positive effect on mental health." "“Petting or cuddling your cat can reduce the levels of cortisol, the stress hormone, in your body,” she says. “This leads to feelings of calm and happiness, decreased heart rate and blood pressure, and a calming of anxiety.” Furthermore, adds Fallon, being around a cat can help take our minds off negative thoughts." You might even be able to get them as a service animal but ESA will be cheaper. My roommate has a cat and it pulled them out if depression. He doesn't have him registered as an ESA but my roommate also doesn't go many places other than work at his factory job. Not the best place for a cat. Animals natural help our mental health so I'd say go for it!

cats can help you in most mental aspects. depending on the type you get, they can be playful and energetic to relaxing and empathic. taking in a pet is also great to ease your boredom and loneliness, as they act as a good companion, again, based on the breed. activities like actively feeding your pets also help ease symptoms.
