Has anyone tried going to a chiropractor for TMJ? I’ve been dealing with chronic pain and flare-ups because of it for years and I’m trying to find more treatment options. Getting sick of my dentist telling me my bite splint is the most he can do for me.

i have tried both chiropractor and physical therapy. at first, the chiro seemed to help but i think it helped with my neck symptoms a lot more than my jaw. physical therapy seems to be more effective than chiro for me personally, as well as dry needling is very helpful. but it definitely isn’t a fix all either, i’m still struggling a lot. everyone’s different but i recommended physical therapy over chiro :)

I have been going to physical therapy for about 2 years now for my TMJ and it has provided some of the best relief so far. I’ve not gone to a chiropractor for my TMJ yet, I think they can help with some kinds of TMJ pain but not others? I think it depends on what kind of TMJ you have or something

I'm not sure how helpful this is, but I asked my chiropractor about it and she said she herself doesn't adjust the TMJ, but she told me to look up massages for the lateral pterygoid muscle, which you can do yourself. It's a weird massage, but it has helped me release so much tension in my jaw and around my ears. I went from being in pain constantly to immediately have relief from the pain. I had another chiropractor give me some jaw exercises to do a long time ago which seem to help a little, also.
