So back in 2019 I was raped by an Indian guy. The reason I mention his race is because after that, my distaste/hatred of Indian men solidified. If you were a female on Facebook back in the day, you’ll remember being overwhelmed with sexually harassing messages from Indian men. And of course, the general way women are treated in India/by Indian people. Women are thought of as objects and women in India are at a severely increased risk of being sexual violated. It’s why I’ll never go to India.
Even though I feel I have valid reasons for hating them, I’m not sure if my feelings are racist or not. I can’t even watch stuff with Indian men or listen to things about Indian men. I immediately get feelings of disgust and fear when I see/hear/etc Indian men.
I feel kind of bad, but at the same time, I’m so triggered by Indian men.

Just looking for some outside opinions and maybe some suggestions on how to deal with these feelings.

I don’t think it’s racist at all. It’s something that triggers you due to a traumatic event. Part of being racist is deliberately discriminating against another race. It doesn’t sound like you’ve done that. That race just happens to be a trigger for you, understandably.

thank you. I’m just grateful that I’m comfortable enough with doctors that I’m not bothered when a doctor is Indian.

that’s good. I can’t have male doctors, therapists, etc or it triggers my ptsd and anxiety. I have seizure disorder and when my stress level gets too high it causes me to have a seizure.

Also, if you want, you can always dm me if you wanna talk. What you’ve described is almost exactly what I went through. I need a friend on this app too and we are about the same age!

Actually you’re a little older than me, but not much.
