Being diagnosed with ADHD doesn't change who you are. It just gives a name to the string of attention and hyperactivity issues. People who would drop you for just being diagnosed can hardly be called friends

Make your situation/ issues known up-front is the first and best thing to do. The ones who disappear right away aren't who you want as friends anyways and a lot of the weeding out is done right away. The ones who stick around and accept you for YOU are the ones you want by your side.
