I finally got my pelvic pain specialist to agree to a laparoscopy after 8 years. I've heard of SO many people who say they think their laparoscopy was not done correctly and if I'm going to get it done, I want to get it done right. Has anyone gotten a laparoscopy at Kaiser? And was it a good experience or do you think it wasn't done correctly? I'm super scared of any medical procedure but especially surgery as I've never had any kind of surgery. I've also heard I need an endometriosis excision specialist, not just a on-gym surgeon. What was your post-op pain like? Do you have any suggestions to make it less painful? Did you have bad pelvic pain in recovery?

I was so scared. I waited 10 years. I found a specialist surgeon. If you don’t feel like the surgeon listens to you or you have a bad vibe - find another! You don’t have to do it if you feel uneasy.

I had a laparoscopic surgery for my endometriosis in 2012. The recovery was only about 2 days and they gave me a very small amount of pain medication (Vicodin I think). They fill your stomach with air so you will be very bloated when you wake up. The worst part for me was coming of the anesthesia but I’ve had that problem with other surgeries as well; it might just be me. What I do know is that it helped my pain 1000%. It felt like a miracle, I had no pain after healing from the surgery. My doctors won’t do it again, even though I want it. I didn’t go through Kaiser though. To me, it was very very worth it and I would do it again in a heartbeat, The problem is it’s not a permanent solution and 10 years later I have the same amount of pain as before surgery. It lasted about 7 years for me. Good luck, I hope it works for you like it worked for me!
