Hello, lately I am having alot of trouble with my panic attacks. They didn't start until the last week of my jounior year and I didn't have them again until recently and I had to go to the ER for it. the first time was because I tried a mj brownie and that made me panic so they gave me Ativan for it. then this past Friday I went with a friend and in Walmart my heart felt like it was going to skip pass out and I started panicking. when we were driving home I asked her to bring me to the er and then I calmed down a little bit I was still having anxiety so when I got seen they gave me Ativan again. I am going to see my doctor but I was wondering what I could do to calm myself down during these moments and what medication they can give you for on the spot and not an every day thing. thank you for reading this!! ❤️

For me I always need to find a safe space. When I panic I need to remove myself from the situation and goes somewhere my brain deems safe. At restaurants or stores I usually always go to the bathroom during my panic attacks so I have an enclosed space to feel protected. If I'm in a car, I usually ask my friend to pull over so I can take a breather . My most important safe space has been my room though. When I panic I feel like I can go directly in my room and bundle up in blankets or just lay on the floor so my brain is familiar with the surroundings and knows I'm safe.

I recently have gotten into crystals - even if you don’t believe in the healing properties having something hard and concrete to focus on helps me tremendously. I also have an ESA who comes to me during my panic attacks to help ground me. As far as medication for panic attacks they prescribed me Xanax and medical marijuana. I far prefer the medical marijuana to the Xanax - for me it’s faster acting and has no “hangover” plus it helps some of my other issues as well (chronic pain, loss of appetite, insomnia, ptsd, etc.) Feel free to DM id be happy to talk more with you about this!
I also get panic attacks it’s so rough I understand what you’re going through it feels like you’re suffocating at times where you can’t breathe one exercise my doctor gave me was to focus on your breath try to relax as much as possible count backwards from three in focus much as possible try to vision yourself in a relaxing place somewhere peaceful my peaceful place happens to be the beach so that’s where I usually visual my place sometimes it can help but sometimes you’re so anxious it’s really hard to focus have you ever tried meditation they say sometimes that can help i’m getting into meditating more because they say it can help with anxiety maybe give this a try it might help you I haven’t had any panic attacks in a while but I do get meltdowns a lot because I have autism I hope this can help you because I do know how it feels to have a panic attack let me know if you try it if it does help at all
