First and foremost, repetition. I have this stupid checklist in my head. I go over before I leave the house for work. Check the back door is closed/ turn off the A.C. /make sure the fridge and the cabinets are closed./ Turn off the lights. Even if there's no rational reason for some of those things to not be right, I check them tying them together as absolute musts before I leave the house. Ive have certain things, I have mentally tied to my roommate. Like a game of "where you gonna be when Jesus comes back". I dont want him to see my dishes in the sink at all, or catch my bathroom light left on, or my food prep in left out. And I find myself like strangely running around cleaning things up anytime he is present. Of course if you behave this way, they're going to think you're weird, but that's way out the door anyway, and they'll likely appreciate that they can see you're trying.

I don't have any advice. But I just learned how terrible my executive dysfunction is and it makes me wonder how much that is tied to things in my life

Maybe try the app sweepy? I know part of my execution dysfunction is identifying what needs to be done, and the app helps alot. I find I'm basically "tricking" myself into doing shit; like if I do 5 minutes in the kitchen, maybe it won't be so hard to keep going. Baby steps, good luck!
Dude I really just have to comment because I’ve been dealing with this recently too. It’s absolutely ruining everything. The therapist I’m seeing said it’s “urgent” that I get in ADHD meds. What I do know is that to treat executive dysfunction you have to work on the underlying disorder. It sucks and I really do wish I could help more. Best wishes and good vibes to you!
@CDog I'm sorry you're going through the same. I am on methylphenidate for my adhd, but I hate how it makes me feel. The anxiety I get from it basicslly also contributes to the exec dysfunction ;-; I feel like the only way for me to get things done would be to just force myself through the discomfort and dread. I am definitely going to bring this up to my doc next time I see her, though. I don't want normal daily tasks to feel like hell. It's just too much...
