right now I just feel so defeated. I lost everything in a house fire last year and have come nowhere near recovering from it. I lost my service dog and just about everything else I owned. we spent four months living in a tent until we got a portable cabin. we have no electric except from a generator and no income. my other half lost his job two months ago and we have been struggling ever since. I've went without food, water, and heat several times over winter and spring. he can't find work and I'm not physically or mentally able to handle a job. we only ever get cold baths from a hose at night and have a camp toilet because of no plumbing. we are at risk of losing the cabin because we can't make the rent to own payments. I'm at my wits end and I think I've finally reached the point where I don't care what happens anymore, that I just want to lay here and die.

Wow, I'm just overwhelmed myself to hear all that you have been through. But there should be some type of assistance for low income or disable people where you are. Such as state programs, church charities programs, etc. What state do u live in if you don't mind me asking?

Hey, I'm sorry you are going through so much. Have you looked at getting into a shelter? Have you contacted the Department of Human Services in your area? They should be able to help.

@Stronger_Now the local shelters are gender separate so men in one and women in another and they're not in the same town so me and my other half would be separated. I also have a dog that did survive the fire and they won't allow him at all and after losing my SD and with having this boy since he was a baby (he's almost 5) I can't give him up and nobody will keep him temporarily. Those two things make a shelter not an option. Plus you only have so many days like maybe a month or two at the shelter before you have to start paying so much a week to stay there and if you can't pay they put you out. Our area is not supportive or helpful to those down on their luck at all.

@Fiery I've tried to get disability but they said I'm not disabled enough 4 times. But yet I have bipolar, bpd, anxiety, antisocial disorder, anger issues from the bpd, suspected autism, and PTSD and that's just the mental aspect. Physically I have chronic migraines, asthma, allergies, arthritis in my back and hips, a plate in my foot from breaking it twice in one year from being a fall risk, and being tested for chrons disease.

@TarynMoon you go get and attorney the kind that doesn't get paid unless you get paid. I did 11 years ago. I got disability. It usually takes that. They set that system up to turn away most folks. But an attorney won't take a case he can't win.

@TarynMoon oh wow! That is so not right. Keep trying. Keep going to the office of family and children services maybe they can give you emergency cash,Medicare or food stamps. I will be 🙏 praying for you.

@Fiery Kentucky. We've tried all local programs and no luck. We are trying to get solar set up so we don't have to worry about electric but without income we're pretty much dead in the water. We even tried to get help getting kerosene for heaters during winter and got little to no help. We spent several nights in an uninsulated building with temps 30 or lower.
