I'm just gonna jump right into it, Today was my homecoming day, I got dressed I put my makeup on, I took my pictures, I suffer with anxiety very bad, I ended up not meeting my friends at the dance and Wasting my my $30 homecoming ticket because of my terrible anxiety, what should I have done differently, challenged my disorder, or something, how do I stop my anxiety from ruining my social life?

@dodge 100% this is what I was going to say! You did so many of the scary things! Sometimes anxiety makes it hard to follow through and thats okay. You're allowed to decide if something is right for you or not and you're allowed to change your mind as many times as you want. You're doing great! There will be other social events to go to later. Taking care of yourself and recognizing when you need a break is important too.

@PetiteQuartz even i’m too scared to go to prom or HOCO
I guess it depends on where you're at, if you're having severe physical symptoms it's probably not safe to go out and sustain that state but for the most part you just have to take a deep breath, tell yourself that it will pass and you *can* have a good night, and push through it. Events are what you make of them, even when things go wrong you can bounce back.

the first coping skill I thought of is to imagine yourself 10 minutes in the future, knowing that the anxiety could have passed in that time, and you survived riding through it
I think it depends on what you can handle that day. if you really can't push through it, that's okay. obvi it can effect your life negatively, but it isn't your fault.
@Gateway thank you fam the way you worded it made me smile through tears and feel empowered
